CGC Evaluators Making a
Difference
Providing
Bullet Proof Vests for Police Dogs
On Saturday,
March 3, 2007, the Beaufort Kennel Club held a fundraiser in
Waterfront Park, Beaufort,
SC, to raise money for a bulletproof vest for Hunter, our local K-9
police dog. The event
included demonstrations by Hunter and his K9 police officer,
Seth.
CGC testing was a crowd pleaser and all of
the money from the test was donated to the fundraiser.
We found that not
only were CGC test participants willing to pay to take the
CGC test, the event was so
successful that attendees were asking if we plan to do it again
next year. Our original
goal was to raise the $1000 cost of a bullet proof vest. We far exceeded
our expectations by
raising over $6500 to help our community and police officers, and protect our
local K-9 dog.
Outback
Steakhouse was our primary sponsor—they donated over 200 lunches and the proceeds all went toward the
vest fund.
It was a great
day! The park was filled with many responsible dog owners and their dogs. We
were able to provide a
tremendous amount of
public education, we all had a wonderful time, and we learned that the public will
come out in large numbers
to support a great cause.
